1st FESTIVAL ABOUT FOOD ISSUES ANNOUNCES CALL FOR ENTRIES

(NEW YORK, NY) Aug 5, 2016 — The 2016 Faces of Hunger Short Film Festival (FOH), in association with New York University (NYU), announces its call for submissions nationwide in all categories, including documentary, narrative and animation.

The first and only film festival to focus on food insecurity, quality and waste in the United States, FOH is spurring a nationwide dialogue about the everyday realities that millions of Americans face.

Short films of up to 40 minutes in length can be submitted via Filmfreeway and Withoutabox before September 29, 2016. Professional filmmakers and those with firsthand experience of food issues are encouraged to submit their films for a chance to win a $5000 grant towards their next project.

From the Mario Batali Foundation Award for filmmakers under 12 years old to an award for films shot on a mobile device, FOH is facilitating budding filmmakers to share their personal viewpoints on a basic human right – food.

Selected films will be screened alongside in-depth panel discussions with a space for conversation and refreshments on October 14 at the NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute in celebration of World Food Day.
